Reds avoid being swept by beating the Angels 6-4

ANAHEIM CA - The Cincinnati Reds pitcher Hunter Greene struck out 12 in route to a 6-4 win over the Angels on Tuesday night at Angels Stadium.

Miguel Andujar went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBI’s while Greene gave up three runs on six hits in six innings of work.

After Mike Trout opened the bottom of the first inning with a double, and Taylor Ward followed with an RBI-single to score Trout and give the Angels a 1-0 lead.

In the top of the second inning, Noelvi Marte hit a solo home run to center field and the Reds tied it 1-1. Elly De LA Cruz opened the top of the fourth inning with a single to left field. Andujar doubled to left field, which scored De La Cruz to give the Reds a 2-1 lead.

Marte doubled to right field and Andujar scored to extend the Reds lead 3-1. In the top of the fifth inning, De La Cruz drew a walk and Andujar singled to center to bring De La Cruz home to give the Reds a 4-1 lead.

The Angels cut the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning when  Adell hit a solo home run to center field. In the same inning, Travis D’arnaud doubled and then came around to score on a Zach Neto single for a 4-3 deficit.

Adell hit his second home run of the game in the bottom of the eighth inning to tie it 4-4. TJ Friedl hit a sacrifice fly and Gavin Lux hit a RBI double to give the Reds a 6-4 lead.

They wrap up the series on Wednesday with Cincinnati sending Nick Martinez (10-9)  to the mound against Yusei Kikuchi (6-8) of the Angels.
