Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts powered the Dodgers to a 5-3 win over the Colorado Rockies

LOS ANGELES, CA -Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts powered the Dodgers to a 5-3 win over the Colorado Rockies Monday night at Dodgers Stadium. Both hit home runs and Dustin May picked up his first win of the season.
The Dodgers lost three straight series and were outscored by the Cubs 20-5 before the series opener against Colorado. Los Angeles had lost six of its last nine games.
"I liked tonight," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. "I thought we built innings. We created stress. We took our walks. A lot of traffic. Really got to the starter. I think offensively, very sound. Back to kind of who we are."
Mookie Betts opened the game with a 2-Run home run to center field in the bottom of the first inning. Betts with his fourth home run of the season scored Shohei Ohtani who reached base on a single.
In the third inning, Ohanti hit a solo home run to center field to give the Dodgers a 3-0 lead. Ohtani’s fifth home run of the season had an exit velocity of 112 mph. After Betts got on base with a double, Will Smith followed with a single to score Betts and extend the Dodgers lead 4-0 over the Rockies.
Colorado got on the board when Nick Martini reached base on an infield single and Kyle Farmer doubled to left field to score Martini and cut the lead 4-1 in the top of the sixth inning. Smith added to the Dodgers lead with a sacrifice fly that scored Ohtani in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Anthony Banda came into the game in the seventh inning to relieve starting pitcher Dustin May, who threw six innings and only gave up three hits with seven strikeouts. Banda gave up a 2-run home run to Hunter Goodman but the Rockies still trailed the Dodgers 5-3.
Tanner Scott closed out the ninth inning for his fifth save of the season. Los Angeles will send Landon Knack (1-0) to the mound on Jackie Robinson Day around MLB Tuesday.
