LOS ANGELES, CA - Teoscar Hernandez with four hits, 4 RBIs, and two runs to help the Los Angeles Dodgers (20-10, 1st NL West) beat the Miami Marlins (12-17, 5th NL East) at Dodger Stadium 15-2.
Hernandez took the lead for RBIs in MLB, now with 31, passing the New York Yankees Aaron Judge with 29 RBIs.
The Dodgers were very aggressive in the first few innings with base running, and the hot bats for the Dodgers 18 hits for the game was just too much for the Marlins to overcome. After the game, I talked with Hernandez about being aggressive and his game in the video below.
Jack Dryer (LHP, 2-1) got the nod to start the game for the Dodgers and gave up a triple to Xavier Edwards in the top of the first inning. Miami would take a 1-0 lead with a sharp single to center field by Dane Myers and Edwards to score.
Shohei Ohtani, 2 of 16 in his last four games after returning from paternity leave would tie the game 1-1 in the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run over the right field wall off the starting pitcher for the Sandy Alcantara (RHP, 2-2).
"Just grateful for a safe delivery," Ohtani said through interpreter Will Ireton. "I'm glad that even though I couldn't sleep as much as I wanted to, it's a good kind of not-getting-enough-sleep situation."
"For him to make it a [tie] ballgame after the first pitch that their starter throws certainly gets some life into our offense, and we just took it from there," manager Dave Roberts said. "But yeah, when he's going, you can see our offense sort of follows suit."
Freddie Freeman got on base with a double to right field in the bottom of the second inning. Los Angeles would take the lead 2-1 with a pop-up that dropped in front of the Marlins center fielder Myers with Freeman crossing home plate. Alcantara would load the bases with one out.
The Dodgers increased their lead to 3-1 with a sacrifice fly ball by Tommy Edman to right field, and Teoscar Hernandez tagged up from third base and scored. Matt Sauer (RHP) would replace Myers in the top of the second inning.
Ohanti would steal second base in the bottom of the second inning and moments later would score on a single by Hernandez to left field to give the Dodgers a 4-1 lead.

Los Angeles led Miami 5-1 in the bottom of the third inning after Andy Pages single a line drive to center field and Edman scored.
The Dodgers pushed their lead up to 7-1 with a single into center field by Mookie Betts, and Andy Pages and Michael Conforto scored.
Hernandez would get on base after Augustin Ramirez called for interference. Los Angeles loaded the bases during the bottom of the sixth inning with no outs. Will Smith would smash a double off the right-field wall, which allowed Betts and Freeman to score, now led 9-1. The Dodgers ended the inning leading 11-1 when Edman doubled into left field, and Hernandez and Smith both scored.
Miami trailed 11-2 in the top of the seventh inning after their shortstop Ronnie Simon singled to right field and Otto Lopez scored. Kiki Hernandez got on base after being walked by the Marlins pitcher George Soriano in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Tesocar Hernandez continued his hot hitting with another RBI after hitting a line drive to center field, and Myers dropped the ball after being in his glove, and Kiki Hernandez scored to give the Dodgers a 12-2 lead.
The Dodgers led 13-2 in the bottom of the eighth inning thanks to a solo home run by Andt Pagers over the left-field wall. Miguel Rojas got into the RBI derby with a single into left field, and Austin Barnes came home and now made the score 14-2.
It was only fitting that Teoscar Hernandez would have final RBI for the Dodgers after hitting a single to right field, and Kiki Hernandez would score the last run that made the final score 15-2.
