The Dodgers rally comes up short against the Brewers 8-7

LOS ANGELES, CA - It was a special night before the game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Milwaukee Brewers, as the Dodgers officially unveiled the mural of Fernando Valenzuela on the Left Field Loge Terrace, with former teammates and family in attendance.

It was an emotional moment for the current players and fans who had the opportunity to witness the greatness of this young man who changed the culture of MLB and the history of the Dodgers forever.

Los Angeles (58-41) fell to Milwaukee (58-40) at Dodger Stadium 8-7, had several chances to go out front, but with players in scoring position were left on bases, and the Brewers answered every threat by the Dodgers.

Emmet Sheehan (1-1) got rocked by the Brewers after pitching 3.0 innings, and gave up 7 hits, five runs, three strikeouts, and one home run. Freddy Peralta (12-4) pitched 5.0 innings, while giving up 5 hits, four runs, four strikeouts, and one home run.

Blake Perkins started the top of the third inning with a triple into right field, and moments later, the Brewers would lead 1-0 after Joey Ortiz singled into right field and Perkins scored.

Milwaukee would score two more runs when William Contreras doubled to center field and Ortiz scored, and Brice Turang scored to lead 3-0.

The Brewers continue to add to their run total to lead 4-0 when Contreras tagged up from third base to score after Andrew Vaughn was out on a sacrifice fly to center field.

The Dodgers would respond in the bottom of the third inning with a two-run home run by Shohei Ohtani to trail 4-2. Teoscar Hernández doubles with a line drive to center field, and Will Smith, making the score 4-3.

The Dodgers, still in the bottom of the third inning, tied the game 4-4 with a wild pitch by Freddy Peralta, and Freddie Freeman scored from third base.

Milwaukee would regain the lead 5-4 in the top of the fourth inning with a solo home run by Isaac Collins over the right field wall.

Caleb Durbin would double with a sharp line drive to left field, and Isaac Collins would make the score 6-4 after crossing home plate.

The Dodgers trailed 6-5 in the bottom of the sixth inning after Ohtani singled to left field and Tommy Edman scored.

In the top of the seventh inning, Andrew Vaughn singled on a ground ball to center field, and Brice Turang made the score 7-5 after coming home.

Milwaukee increased the lead to 8-5 in the top of the eighth inning after Ortiz homered over the left field wall.

The Dodgers would score their final two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning when Edman hit a solo home run over the left field, and made the score 8-6, and 8-7 the final run, after Miguel Rojas hit a home run over the left field
