LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Dodgers (2-1) drop Game 3 of the NLDS to the Philadelphia Phillies (1-2) at Dodger Stadium 8-2, with some costly mistakes, and their starting pitcher, Yoshinobu Yamamoto (1-1), pitching 4.0 innings, giving up 6 hits, 3 runs, 1 HR, and 2 strikeouts.
Shohei Ohtani, the Dodgers' lead-off batter, has struggled at the plate in the series against the Phillies, just 1 for 12, and seven strikeouts.
Yamamoto, with some great pitches, was able to hold the Phillies scoreless in the top of the first inning.
Mookie Betts, in the bottom of the first inning, hit a triple to right-center field with one out. Aaron Nola, with two outs, hit Freddie Freeman to have runners on first and third base for the Dodgers.
Nola was able to get out of a jam by striking out Will Smith, who was caught looking at a pitch called for a strike.
After a pitching change, Ranger Suarez, replacing Nola, the Dodgers led 1-0 in the bottom of the third inning with a solo home run by Tommy Edman over the left-center field wall.

The Phillies tied the game 1-1 in the top of the fourth inning with a monster solo home run by Kyle Schwarber (455ft) over the right field wall.
“It's ridiculous how far that ball went,” said Phillies shortstop Trea Turner.
Philadelphia would take the lead 2-1 after a single by Alec Bohm and an error by Max Muncy, after a perfect throw by Andy Pages from center field, letting the throw to third base roll into the dugout, and Bryce Harper scored.
Los Angeles trailed 3-1 at the top of the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly ball by Brandon Marsh, and Bohm would score.
Clayton Kershaw came in at the top of the seventh inning and held the Phillies scoreless, while giving up one single and walking one batter.

However, the top of the eighth inning wasn’t good for Kershaw as the Phillies blew the game wide open after J.T. hit a solo home run (4-1) over the left-center field wall, Tre Turner singles on a line drive to right field, and Max Kepler and Castellanos scored (6-1), and Schwarber second home run of the game over right field with Turner on base (8-1) to end the inning.
“Tough couple of innings there,” Kershaw said. “I kind of got bailed out there in the seventh. Good play by Teo. Just didn't make enough good pitches. I was battling command. It's hard when you're trying to throw strikes as opposed to getting people out. Just wasn't a fun inning.”
The Dodgers would score their final run to lose 8-2 after Edman with a soft single ground ball to left field, and Enrique Hernandez would come home to score.
Los Angeles will try to close out the series in Game 4 on Thursday with Tyler Glasnow (RHP, 4-3), and on the mound for Philadelphia, Christopher Sanchez (LHP), 13-5).
