PHILADELPHIA - Despite Matthew Stafford throwing two interceptions, completing 32 passes for 317 yards, Kyren Williams scoring two touchdowns, and Puka Nacua catching 9 passes for 125 yards, the Los Angeles Rams (2-2) came from behind in the fourth quarter and beat the Philadelphia Eagles (2-2) at Lincoln Financial Field 24-20.

The Rams' defense kept them in the game by having the Eagles stopped on third downs (0-12) and 4th downs (1-4), and all game long putting pressure on Jalen Hurts, who completed only 12 passes for 93 yards and two touchdowns, and their wide receiver Daruis Cooper with three catches for 33 yards and two touchdowns. Saquon Barkley left the game in the first quarter with a pulled hamstring.

“I think a lot of teams would have folded in those situations,” McVay said. “I think our defense kept giving us a reason to believe.

Los Angeles on their first offensive possession, Stafford threw a pass intended for Kyren Williams, but it was intercepted by the Eagles’ linebacker Jeremiah Trotter.

Philadelphia led 3-0 in the first quarter after Jake Elliot kicked a 29-yard field goal. Los Angeles would tie the game 3-3 after Harrison Mevis kicked a 40-yard field goal.

Stafford threw his second interception in the second quarter looking for Williams again, and the Eagles’ safety Andrew Mukuba’s intercepted the pass at the Rams' 21-yard line.

The Rams trailed 13-3 in the second quarter when the Eagles’ Jalen Hurts (QB) found Darius Cooper (WR) roaming in the end zone for an 18-yard touchdown.

Cooper would score his second touchdown on a 10-yard pass from Hurts, giving Philadelphia a 20-10 lead at halftime.

Los Angeles, in the fourth quarter, with 3:59 left in the game, had to start on their own 2-yard line, drove downfield 98 yards and 10 plays, and Kyren Williams ran into the end zone for a 1-yard touchdown, making the score 20-17.

The Rams’ defense forced the Eagles to give the ball back to Stafford and their offense, and the fans at Lincoln Financial Stadium were stunned as Williams broke tackles down the left side of the field for a 7-yard touchdown run to give them a 24-20 lead with 1:45 left in the game, and Philadelphia had no more timeouts.

Byron Young would sack Hurts on 1st and 10 with 1:05 left in the game. On 3rd and 17 with 38 seconds left on the clock, Young would sack Hurts again, forcing him to fumble the football, but it was recovered by the Eagles.

The last play of the game for Philadelphia was on 4th and 25; Hurts’ pass to Cooper was incomplete, and McVay and the Rams withstood everything that went wrong and still found a way to win.

“Plenty of plays where we didn’t get the result we wanted,” Stafford said. “But we got the result we wanted at the end of the game.”

Los Angeles next game will be at SoFi Stadium to take on the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football at 5:25 pm.
