Cal's Clutch Free Throws Helps Beat Rival Stanford 52-50

1/26/20 BERKELEY, CA –The California Golden Bears took down their rival the Stanford Cardinal 52-50, after senior guard Paris Austin made two clutch-free throws with 3.2 seconds left in the game. Austin led Cal in scoring with 15 points and four assists, Matt Bradley 14 points, and Kareem South 13 points.

The leading scorers for Stanford were Oscar Da Silva 13 points, Daejon Davis 12 points, and Tyrell Terry 11 points. Cal forced Stanford into committing 15 turnovers during the game.

Stanford in the first half led Cal 18-17 after a jump shot by Tyrell Terry with 4:05 left in the first half. Terry scored a basket on a fastbreak that gave Stanford a four-point lead 24-19, with 32 seconds left in the first half.

Cal had their first lead of the second half 42-41, after a made basket by Paris with 6:24 left in the game. Both teams struggle to find ways of stopping each other on offense. Stanford was down 49-48 after a pair of free-throws by Oscar Da Silva with 2:56 left in the game.

Bryce Wills from Stanford tied the game 50-50, with 1:55 left in the game. Daejon Davis from Stanford did the unthinkable, foul Paris with three seconds left in the game. Paris made both free throws to secure their 52-50 victory over the Stanford Cardinal.
