Matthew Stafford Outshines Jared Goff in the Rams 28-19 victory over the Lions

10/25/21 INGLEWOOD, CA - Matthew Stafford threw three touchdowns as the Los Angeles Rams (6-1) beat Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions (0-7) 28-19 at So-Fi Stadium, on Sunday.


Stafford completed 28 of his 41 passes for 381-yards, and Jared Goff completed 22 of his 36 passes for 281-yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.


Jared Goff and the Lions didn't waste any time scoring, threw a 63-yard touchdown pass to D'Andre Swift (RB) to lead 7-0 in the first quarter.

The Lions caught the Rams' special teams off-guard with an onside kick, recovered the ball on their 45-yard line.


The Rams' special teams on fourth down got another surprise from the Lions when the holder Jack Fox threw a 17-yard pass to Bobby Price to pick up the first down.


The Lions increased their lead to 10-0 after Austin Seibert kicked a 37-yard field goal. The Rams got on the scoreboard and trailed the Lions 10-3 after Matt Gay's 33-yard field goal.


The Lions scored again in the second quarter and led 13-3 after Seibert kicked a 47-yard field goal.

Stafford threw his first touchdown of the game to Van Jefferson for an 11-yard touchdown catch, now trail the Lions 13-10 with 8:36 left in the first half.


Stafford found Robert Woods (WR) open for a 22-yard catch to give them a first down on the Lions' 21-yard line.


The Rams had their first lead of the game 17-13 when Copper Kupp caught a 2-yard touchdown pass from Stafford, and the extra point was good with 1:23 left before halftime.


The Lions trail the Rams at halftime 17-16 after Seibert kicked a 41-yard field goal.


The Rams made the biggest play of the third quarter with the Lions on their 18-yard line didn't allow them to get the first down on a fourth and one.


The Lions regained the lead 19-17 after Seibert kicked a 41-yard field goal with 1:43 left in the third quarter.


The Rams were back-up deep on their side of the field when Stafford found Kupp open for a 59-yard catch.


Kupp, with 13:59 left in the game, caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from Stafford, and the two-point conversion pass to Robert Woods was good gave the Rams a 25-19 lead in the fourth quarter.

The Rams' defense made another big play after Jalen Ramsey intercepted Goff's pass in the endzone and returned it to their 23-yard line.


Gay would ice the game for the Rams with 1:39 left in the game kicked a 47-yard field goal that made the final score 28-19 to help secure their sixth win of the season.

Kupp led the Rams in receptions with ten catches for 151-yards, two touchdowns, Robert Woods six catches for 70-yards, and Van Jefferson four catches for 43-yards and one touchdown.


D'Andre Swift had eight catches for 98-yards one touchdown, followed by Kalif Raymond with six catches for 115-yards.
