12/23/20 LOS ANGELES, Ca - The Los Angeles Clippers, led by Paul George 33-points, seven rebounds, and Kawhi Leonard 26-points, help beat the Los Lakers 116-109 spoiling the ring ceremony for their home season opener.

Serge Ibaka gave the Clippers the much-needed offense of the bench with 15-points six rebounds, and Lou Williams, Ivica Zubac both with 11-points helped first-year head coach Tyronn Lue win in his opening season debut.

"Our focus was on us," Lue said. "The Lakers, they deserved that ring. They had a great season, and you can't take anything away from them. Our focus wasn't really on the Lakers. They were the best team last year, so congratulations to them again, but now we're moving on.

LeBron James led the Lakers in scoring with 22-points, Anthony Davis 18-points, Montrezl Harrell 17-points, ten rebounds, and Kyle Kuzma 15 points.

The Lakers came out flat while the Clippers came out sizzling, led by twenty-points 39-19 in the first quarter. However, during the second quarter, the Clippers' offense went south for about seven minutes, and the Lakers found their rhythm and trail the Clippers at halftime 54-52.

George was in a different mode in the second half for the Clippers, scoring at will, scoring nine straight points to lead the Lakers at the end of the third quarter 87-79.

The Clippers went on to beat the Lakers 116-109 to give the Clippers fans a glimpse of what could be in the 2020-21 season to help get the bad taste out of their mouth after losing a 3-1 lead in the playoffs against the Denver Nuggets last season.

"We're not thinking about last year," Leonard said. "It's a different team. I'm just happy that we kept playing basketball the right way. Even if we lost the lead, we turned around and kept playing our basketball. We ran our offense, and that's what we take pride in tonight. Everybody had each other's back and was staying positive."

The Clippers' victory was more important for them after losing two preseason games to their cross-town rival. The next game at home for the Clippers will be on Thursday, December 27, against the Utah Jazz. #nba #laclippers #lakers #paulgeorge #lebronjames #kawhileonard #tgsportstv1
