12/27/21 LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Clippers hosted the Brooklyn Nets and without a point guard, dug a hole for themselves late in the game, came up short 124-108.
Marcus Morris Sr. had 24-points for the Clippers, and Eric Bledsoe and Keon Johnson had 15-points apiece.
Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue liked the energy and the defense that the young players brought in the fourth quarter.
"I like the way the young guys played defense in the fourth quarter to get the score down to ten points after the Nets went on a 14-0 run, made some mistakes, and they are still learning on the fly without having Reggie Jackson, or Paul George handling the ball for us."
Terrance Mann's and Eric Bledsoe's three-pointers gave the Clipper a 6-2 lead in the first quarter. Bledsoe made another three-point shot to increase the Clippers' lead to 11-4. Marcus Morris Sr. had the Clippers up 18-10.
The Nets were down 21-16 after a three-pointer by James Harden. The Clippers trail the Nets 25-23 after a layup by Blake Griffin. Serge Ibaka's jump shot had the Clippers down by one -point, 28-27.
Luke Kennard's three-pointer had the Clippers down 34-30. The Nets led at the end of the quarter 38-33.
The Nets led 45-37, with a jump shot by DeAndre Bembry's layup in the second quarter. Harden made a layup to increase the Nets' lead to 54-45 with 6:15 left before halftime.
Ivica Zubac put-back basket made the score 56-48. Bembry's monster-dunk gave the Nets a 60-48 lead. The Clippers trail by fifteen points 65-51 with a three-point shot by Patty Mills.
The Nets lead at halftime 71-55, with Harden leading all scorers with 22-points, followed by the Clippers Morris Sr. with 14-points.
Mills' three-pointer in the third quarter gave the Nets an 87-72 lead. The Clippers were down 98-76 after a jump shot by Harden. The Clippers were down by twenty points, 101-81 at the end of the third quarter.
The Clippers' Justise Winslow fall-away jump shot made the score 101-83 in the fourth quarter. Brandon Boston Jr.'s layup made the score 105-87, and the Nets called a timeout.
Boston fouled on his three-point shot that was good, made his free throws, and the Clippers were down 105-91 with 7:08 left in the game. Nic Claxton's tip-in shot had the Nets up 110-94.
With 4:17 left in the game, Keon Johnson's three-pointer had the Clippers trailing the Nets 110-100. Harden made two free throws to give the Nets a 114-100 lead.
The Nets (23-9) beat the Clippers (17-17) 128-108, with Harden leading them in scoring with 39-points 15 assists, Mills and Claxton both scored 15-points and Griffin and Bembry both with 12-points.
