USC Trojans bounce back to be the UC Irvine Anteaters 91-56

12/9/ 20 LOS ANGELES, Ca - The USC Trojans (Pac-12), with a record of (3-1) hosted the UC Irvine Anteaters (Big West) (2-2), was looking to improve their record against a non-conference opponent on the Pac-12 Television Network.


Evan Mobley (F) is the leading scorer for the Trojans, averaging 16.5 points per game, followed by Drew Peterson (G) 13.3 points per game. UC Irvine's leading scorers are Brad Green (C) 12.2 points per game, and Collin Welp(F) averaging 11.2 points per game.


The Trojans in the first half had a 14-7 lead over the Anteaters after a layup by Isaiah Mobley. USC had a ten-point lead 22-12 after a monster dunk by Drew Peterson.


UC Irvine head coach was upset with his team after a dunk by Chevez Goodwin that made the score 28-14 called a time out 4:58 left in the first half.


The Trojans points in the paint and three-point shooting were wearing down the Anteaters as they were pulling away, leading 33-14 after a three-pointer by Noah Baumann. USC closed out the first half leading 46-21.


USC head coach Andy Enfield and their coaching staff had to be please by the way the team was playing, coming off a 61-58 loss against UConn Huskies.


"They understood we gave a game away we could have won (vs. UConn). We played good enough defense to win, we just play well enough on offense. Tonight we did everything, we defended, played hard, stole the ball, blocked shots, got out in transition, and made our spot-up jump shots."

Baumann led the Trojans in scoring with 12 points on 4 of 5 shooting, followed by Evan Mobley, 11 points. The Anteaters leading scorer was Dawson Baker with 10 points, on 3 of 4 shooting.


USC made 7 of 15 three-point shots and UC Irvine just 2 of 10. The Trojans outscored UC Irvine in the paint 18 to 6 and did a great job of taking care of the basketball committed only four turnovers.


In the second half, the game got worst for the visiting Anteaters as the Trojans led 58-37 with 13:59 left in the game. USC was cruising, leading by twenty-three points 72-49 after a dunk by Isaiah Mobley with 8:09 left in the game.

The Trojans went on to beat the Anteaters 91-56 to get their fourth win of the season before they start Pac-12 Conference play against the Stanford Cardinals this Sunday.


Evan Mobley led the Trojans in scoring with 22 points, 11 rebounds, 5 block shots, Baumann 18 points, and Tahj Eaddy 12 points. Baker led the Anteaters with 17 points and Austin Johnson 10 points.


After the game, Evan Mobley talked about the way he played against UC Irvine, and the team did a better shooting tonight.


"The five-block shots, I just try to be active on defense, and show my length, and alter shots."


"The last game, we didn't make shots, so we didn't get assists. This game we made shots." "I do what I see is open, if it's a drive, a pop, or kick out, I do what's best for the game. Usually, it works out."
