Clippers can't stop Irving, and Harden in 112-108 loss to the Nets

2/21/21 LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Clippers (22-9) had to battle to the end to defeat the Utah Jazz 116-112 on Friday Night. Now the Clippers had to deal with James Harden, Kyrie Irving, and the Brooklyn Nets (19-12), and came up short in 112-108 loss at the Staple Center.

The Clippers took an 8-5 lead in the first quarter after a jump shot by Patrick Beverly. Kyrie Irving's Irving three-point shot tied the game 10-10. James Harden made a jump shot that had the Nets down 15-12. Paul George's three-pointers gave the Clippers a 21-15 lead.

The Nets went on a 7-0 run to regain the lead, 22-21, after Irvin's layup with 3:23 left in the quarter. Terance Mann's three-pointer had the Clippers down by one-point 28-27. Kawhi Leonard's three-point shot gave the Clippers a 30-28 lead at the end of the quarter.

George made back-to-back baskets to give the Clippers a 34-28 lead in the second quarter. Landry Shemet made a three-point shot that had the Nets down by one-point, 35-34. Ivica Zuback tied the game 40-40 with his layup with 7:23 left in the first half.

Bruce Brown's dunk gave the Nets an eight-point lead, 50-42 lead with 4:04 left in the first half. Serge Ibaka layup had the Clippers down 52-46. The Clippers trail 56-51 after a three-point basket by Nicolas Tatum with 1:28 left in the first half.

The Nets lead at halftime by seven-points, 58-51. Leonard led the Clipper in scoring with 18-points in the first half, George 13-points, and Zubuc 5-points off the bench. Harden led the Nets in scoring with 21-points, Irving 12-points, and Brown 7-points.

George three-pointer in the third quarter had the Clippers trailing 62-58. The Nets went on another 7-0 run to lead the Clippers 69-58. George made a layup that had the Clippers down 71-67 with 7:19 left in the quarter.

Irving made a driving layup to push the Nets' lead up to 75-67. Ibaka's basket had the Clippers trailing 77-71. Joe Harris made a three-point shot that gave the Nets an eleven-point lead, 85-74. The Clippers trail at the end of the third quarter 89-79.

Zubac had a dunk in the fourth quarter that made the score 94-81. Zubac made another dunk, and the Clippers were down by six-points, 96-90, with 6:54 left in the game. The Nets led 101-94 after George made two-free-throws.

The Clippers trail 103-97 after a dunk by DeAndre Jordan with 3:42 left in the game. Irving made an up and under scoop shot that gave the Nets a 107-99 lead. The Clippers trail the Nets 107-103, after a pair of free throws by Leonard with 1:53 left in the game.

Lou Williams made a three-pointer that made the score 108-106 with 1:02 left in the game. Leonard tied the game 108-108 with two free throws with 28.6 left in the game.

Leonard had a chance to give the Clippers the lead, but he shoved Harden out of his way going up for a layup, and the officials called an offensive foul on the play.

Jordan's tip-in basket gave the Nets a 110-108 lead with 11.0 seconds left in the game. Harden was foul and made two free throws that made the final score 112-108.

George finished the game with 24-points, Leonard 29-points, and Zubac with 13-points off the bench.
