3/20/21 LOS ANGELES, CA - In their first matchup of the season, the Los Angeles Clippers (27-16) hosted the Charlotte Hornets (20-21) on Saturday night and came away with a 125-98 victory led by Paul George's ( 21 points) and Kawhi Leonard's ( 17 points), and Lou Williams' (15 points).

The Clippers went 4-6 over their last ten games averaging, 112 ppg, while the Hornets have gone 6-4 over the same period averaging 116.8 ppg and shooting 48% from the field. The Clippers had to play without Patrick Beverly due to a knee injury.

The Clippers led 16-10 in the first quarter after a 19-foot step-back jump shot by Reggie Jackson. Just two minutes later, following back-to-back jump shots by Paul George and Marcus Morris Sr. , the Clippers would add to their lead that made the score 26-14.

The pressure did not stop by the Clippers during the second quarter, as they were up 45-26, after a two-point basket by Lou Williams with 9:17 left in the first half. Nicolas Batum would add to the Clippers' lead of 59-38 after driving to the basket and slam-dunked with 3:07 left in the first half.

The Hornets were overpowered and outmatched by the Clippers' dominance, led by Paul George's 18 points and six assists put the Hornets in a tough spot for the second half.

The Clippers continued their dominance in the third quarter by going on a 12-4 run, making the score 86-60. Even with both teams scoring 30 points during the quarter, the Clippers still held a 98-76 lead over the Hornets.

The story of the night did not change much, if at all, in the fourth quarter. Amir Coffey's three-pointer gave the Clippers a 112-84 lead 5:35 left in the game would only add to the tough night the Hornets would experience.

The Clippers were the best team on both sides of the court during the night. Their largest lead of the night (30 points) mixed with 42 total rebounds and 26 assists (10 from Paul George) would be too much for the Hornets to handle.

The Clippers are hosting the Atlanta Hawks on Monday night while the Hornets fly down to San Antonio as they face off against the Spurs.
