Dodgers Beat Angels 10-2 in Freeway Series

3/30/21 LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Dodgers took the first game of the three-game Free Way Series against the Los Angeles Angels 6-5 and hosted the second game at Dodgers Stadium. The Dodgers won the second game of the series 10-2.

Julio Urias (3-1, LHP) for the Dodgers pitched 5.2 innings, had three strikeouts, and gave up one run. Shohei Ohtani (0-3, RHP) for the Angels allowed seven runs and had three strikeouts.

Mookie Betts pop-up in the 1st inning and Ohtani walked the next two batters, Corey Seager and Cody Bellinger. Ohtani had allowed runners on second and third base with two outs.

Moments later, Ohtani walked AJ Pollock to load the bases and threw a wild pitch that allowed Seager to score from third base to give the Dodgers a 1-0.

Ohtani had walked Will Smith in the top of the 2nd inning, and the next batter Chris Taylor hit a two-run home run over the center-field wall to give the Dodgers a 3-0 lead.

Seager hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 2nd inning to increase the Dodgers' lead to 4-0. Will Smith smashed a three-run homer in the bottom of the 3rd inning that gave the Dodgers a 7-0 lead.

The Angels got on the scoreboard in the top of the 4th inning after a solo home run by Phil Gosselin that made the score 7-1.

The Dodgers push their lead up to 8-1 after Cody Bellinger hit a home run over the center-field wall in the bottom of the 5th inning.

Alex Claudio had runners on first and second in the bottom of the 7th inning, and with one out, Miguel Vargas hit a sacrifice fly ball that scored Matt Beaty, making the score 9-1.

DJ Peters hit a single that allowed Luke Raley to score as the Dodgers now led 10-1. The Angels would get a run in the top of the 9th inning when Jose Rojas scored that made the final score of the game 10-2.

The Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was pleased how his bullpen pitched tonight with Corey Knebel, Kenley Jansen, Jimmy Nelson, and Scott Alexander allowed a run in the top of the 9th inning.

"Overall on the pitching side," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said, "We accomplished what we hoped."
