Washington Prep Football Team Honored by Rams and LAUSD for Football Academic Challenge

3/30/22 LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) honored the George Washington Preparatory High School Football Team as one of the Rams Academic Challenge winners for the highest GPA.

It was a proud moment for former Washington Generals football alumni, students, coaches, administrators, and current players as one of the top achievements in school history to be honored for their GPA by the 2022 Super Bowl Champions, the Los Angeles Rams.

Former Rams Super Bowl Champions with the St. Louis Rams Legend Todd Lyght visited to participate in discussions about goals, character, education, and life after sports.

The Rams Director of Social Justice and Football Development, Johnathan Franklin, and members of the Rams organization presented Washington with a $2,500 equipment grant courtesy of USA Football.

All players and coaches also will receive gift cards to Stonefire Grill. Additionally, students from each school will receive Rams-branded rally towels.

This year's Academic Challenge featured 13 varsity high school football programs from Alexander Hamilton High School, Benjamin Franklin High School, Crenshaw High School, East Valley High School, Felicitas, Gonzalo Mendez High School, George Washington Preparatory High School, John H. Francis Polytechnic High School, John Marshall High School, Miguel Contreras Learning Complex, Nathaniel Narbonne High School, Santee Education Complex, Susan Miller Dorsey Senior High School and Sylmar Charter High School.

Each program submitted the cumulative GPA of its players at the beginning and end of the 2021 season. Additionally, each team participated in weekly one-hour study halls and monitored academic progress throughout the season.
