Dodgers beat Reds 3-1 on Jackie Robinson's Day

4/15/22 LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Dodgers (5-2) beat the Cincinnati Reds (2-6) at Dodgers Stadium 3-1 for the second time of the four-game series on Jackie Robinson Day.

His wife Rachel Robinson and his son David Robinson in attendance at the 75th Anniversary meant so much to the Dodgers Manager, Dave Roberts.

"To have David here today, knowing that there's going to be 42 jerseys all over the ballpark and everyone in baseball is going to be wearing blue jerseys with the No. 42, it's special," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. "What he did was incredible, but we've got to do him right by keeping it going."

The Dodgers pitching staff of Tony Gonsolin pitched four innings, Tyler Anderson (1-0) pitched four innings and gave up one run to pick up the win, and Craig Kimbrel got the save.

Cincinnati's starting pitcher Vladimir Gutierrez pitched four innings giving up five hits and three runs.

Max Muncy led off in the bottom of the second inning with a double. Chris Taylor would single to left field, scoring Muncy to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead.

The Reds had the bases loaded with two outs, and Gonsilin pitched himself out of a jam striking out Aristides Aquino for the final out in the top of the third inning.

Gavin Lux was able to steal second base in the bottom of the third inning. Trea Turner hit a triple into right field, scoring Lux from third base as the Dodgers led 2-0.

Tyler Anderson came into the fifth inning, replacing Gonsolin. Lux would hit a triple off of Vladamir Gutierrez in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Mookie Betts, the next batter, was hit by Gutierrez with a pitch advancing to first base. Betts would steal second base.

Freddie Freeman loaded the bases after being walked by Gutierrez. The Dodgers would lead 3-0 after Justin Turner walked to load the bases again, scoring Lux from third base.

The Reds scored in the top of the sixth inning, trailing the Dodgers 3-1 after Kyle Farmer singled to center field, allowing Aquino to score.
