Clippers Beat Rockets 126-109 at the Staple Center

4/9/21 LOS ANGELES, CA - The Houston Rockets (14-38) and the Los Angeles Clippers (36-18) played at the Staple Center, and without All-Star Paul George, Kawhi Leonard scored 31-points, and Reggie Jackson 26-points, beat the Rockets 126-109.

Luke Kennard in the first quarter gave the Clippers a 12-6 lead after making a three-point shot. The Rockets cut into the Clippers lead, trailing by three points 14-11, after Christian Wood's layup.

The Rockets took their first lead of the game 20-19 after Kevin Porter Jr. layup. The Rockets led 28-19 after Wood made a basket by Wood with 3:33 left in the quarter.

Nicolas Batam made a layup that had the Clippers trailing the Rockets by two-point, 30-28. The Rockets led at the end of the quarter by ten points, 36-26.

Kelly Olynyk's hook shot gave the Rockets a 38-26 lead in the second quarter. The Clippers were down 40-33 after a basket by Terance Mann with 8:54 left in the first half.

Kawhi Leonard's three-pointer had the Clippers down by five points, 41-36. Reggie Jackson made a three-point shot that made the score 40-39. Marcus Cousin also made a three-point shot making the score 42-42 with 6:31 left in the first half.

The Clippers took the lead back 45-42 after Jackson made another three-point shot. Ivica Zubac's dunk pushed the Clippers' lead to 51-43. Leonard, with a dribble-drive, finished with a one-hand dunk, and the Clippers led 57-44.

Corey Coffee's three-point shot had the Clippers leading the Rockets 67-46 at halftime. Reggie Jackson led the Clippers in scoring in the first half with 17-points, followed by Kawhi Leonard with 15-points. Christian Wood led the Rockets with 12-points, Jaesean Tate 9-points, and Sterling Brown 7-points.

The Clippers scored first in the third quarter with a basket by Marcus Morris Sr. and now led 69-48. The Rockets went on a run and trail the Clippers by ten points 71-61, after Wood's dunk.

The Rockets continued to battle back, down by 75-67 after a three-point basket by Kevin Porter Jr. Morris Jr's three-pointer had the Clippers leading by thirteen points, 80-73 with 3:24 left in the quarter.

Leonard gave the Clippers an 89-74 lead after making a jump shot. Patrick Patterson's three-pointer made the score 92-74. The Clippers led the Rockets 94-83 at the end of the quarter.

The Clippers led 106-99 after a layup by Terance Mann in the fourth quarter. Batum's three-point shot made the score 112-99 with 4:53 left in the game. The Rockets final basket of the game, a three-pointer by Kenyon Martin, made the final score 126-109.

Batum scored 17-points and Mann 16-points off the bench for the Clippers. Wood led the Rockets in scoring with 23-points, Jae'Sean Tate 18-points, and Sterling Brown 15-points.
