5/18/21 LOS ANGELES, CA — Dodgers starter Julio Urias cruised to another win thanks to some powerful run support from Gavin Lux.
Urias pitched once again into the seventh inning, securing the Dodgers 9-1 win over their division opponent Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
The Dodgers set the offensive tone early as Mookie Betts started with a lead-off home run, his 25th career lead-off homer, and fourth of the season for the 1-0 lead.
Chris Taylor connected a two-run homer in the fifth inning that increased the Dodgers and allowed Urias the room to work.
With two outs in the seventh and the bases still loaded, Gavin Lux hit his first career grand slam over the right-field wall.
"I kind of thought it was going to be a double, but it carried a little bit," Lux said. "I'm just getting more comfortable after coming back from the wrist injury."
Urias was in his bag of tricks on a cool evening as he finished with eight strikeouts on three hits in 6 2/3 innings pitched. He retired 13 batters from the second to the seventh inning.
"Winning is the most important thing, and we got that tonight," Urias said through a translator.
Dodgers send Clayton Kershaw on the mound on Wednesday to grab their third straight victory in the series against the Diamondbacks. #mlb #ladodgers #diamondbacks #juliourias #majorleaguebaseball #tgsportsv1
