5/23/21 ANAHEIM, CA - The Los Angeles Angels have lost to the Oakland A's two games in a roll and were looking to avoid being swept came from behind and won the final game of the series 6-5.
Matt Olson hit a solo home run over the right-field wall in the top of the second inning to give the A's a 1-0 lead. The next batter Seth Brown hit a two-run home run that increased the A's lead to 3-0.
Tony Kemp hit a triple in the top of the third inning to give the A's a chance to score more runs. Jed Lowrie singled to right field, allowing Kemp to make the score 4-0.
Oakland had the bases loaded in the same inning, but the Angels pitcher Aaron Sleger ended the scoring threat.
The Angels scored in the bottom of the fourth inning when Jared Walsh grounded out in a force-out, and Jose Iglesias made the score 4-1 after he scored.
Walsh hit a solo home run to center-field in the bottom of the sixth inning, and the Angels now trail 4-2. Mike Mayers relieved Sleger in the top of the seventh inning to retire the side to keep the A's scoreless.
The Angels scored again in the bottom of the seventh inning when Jose Rojas single and scored David Fletcher making the score 4-3. With the bases loaded, Shoei Otani came to the plate leading MLB in home runs.
Otani hit a sacrifice fly ball to left-field, and Justin Upton tied the game 4-4. The Angels got their first lead of the game 5-4, with a single from Iglesias in right-field, and Rojas scored with two outs.
The A's tied the game 5-5 in the top of the eighth inning when Sean Murphy single and Olson scored. The Angels regained the lead 6-5 after a sacrifice fly ball into left-field Justin Upton in the bottom of the eighth inning, and Taylor Ward scored the final run of the game.
