Candace Parker's triple-double helps the Sky beat the Sparks 82-59

6/23/22 LOS ANGELES, CA - Candace Parker set a WNBA record with her third triple-double, 10-points, ten assists, and thirteen rebounds to help the Chicago Sky (12-5) beat the Los Angeles Sparks (6-10) at the Crypto.com Arena 82-59.


Nneka Ogwumike had 15-points to lead the Sparks in scoring with 15-points, followed by Brittney Sykes with 13-points.


The other top scorers for the Sky were Courtney Vandersloot and Azura Stevens, each with 15-points. After the game, many fans stood by the tunnel leading to the visitors' locker room.


"It was hard turning left on the second turn instead of the first one to go into the locker room," Parker said. "My teammates are asking me where I normally sit, and I was like, I've never been on this side of the locker room. I have love for the franchise, for the city, and what we were able to do in this building."


The Sparks shot poorly against the Sky, made only 26 of 79 shots from the floor, 32.9 percent, and from the three-point range, only 3 of 18 for 16.7 percent.


Katie Lou-Samuelson tied the game 4-4 with her layup in the first quarter. The Sky went on a 7-0 run capped off by a layup by Candace Parker to give them an 11-4 lead.


Liz Canbage's jump shot had the Sparks trailing 14-10. Rebekah Gardner made a layup to give the Sky a 20-12 lead.


Azura Stevens' three-pointer had the Sky leading by eleven points, 23-12. Chicago led at the end of the first quarter, 27-12.

Nneka Ogwumike jump shot had the Sparks down 29-19 in the second quarter. Stevens' layup gave the Sky a 33-20 lead with 6:05 left before halftime.


Stevens was on fire and made another three-point shot to give the Sky a 38-22 lead. Courtney Vandersloot's step-back jump shot had Chicago leading 43-22 with 3:39 left before halftime.


Parker gave the Sky a 48-22 lead with her three-point shot at the top of the key. Kristi Toliver made a three-pointer that had the Sparks trailing 48-25. Chicago led at halftime 54-25.


Ogwumike had 8-points to lead the Sparks in scoring at halftime. Stevens led Chicago in scoring with 12-points and Vanderslooth with 11-points.


The Sparks trail in the third quarter 60-27 when Vanderslooth made a layup. Brittney Sykes' driving layup made the score 69-43.


Jordan Canada's basket in the paint had the Sparks trailing at the end of the third quarter, 71-47.


Ogwumike's layup in the fourth quarter made the score 71-49. Chicago led 76-51 after a layup by Li Yueru. The Sparks trail 82-57 with a layup by Canbage.
