6/25/21 LOS ANGELES, CA -- For only the seventh time this season, MLB has experienced a no-hitter in a game, however, this no-hitter was accomplished in a unique fashion.
Chicago Cubs starter Zach Davies, along with relievers Ryan Tepera, Craig Kimbrel, and Andrew Chafin combined to throw a no-hitter against the Los Angeles Dodgers that resulted in a 4-0 win.
The last Cubs pitcher to complete a no-hitter against the Dodgers was Jake Arrieta in August 2015.
The Dodgers are staring down the barrel of a four-game losing streak and are not starting off the homestand in the way they'd like to.
"As an offense, earning eight walks was certainly a positive," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts explained. "Walking more than striking out over the course of a night is positive. Overall, we didn't do a good job of executing a game plan. We know Davies. We've seen him."
The Dodgers have experienced everything imagined in the young season as they look to repeat as World Series champions, yet they still hold the cards on how they perform on the field.
Walker Buehler pitched very well in his start, yet he gave up a solo home run in the first inning to Javy Baez. Later in the sixth inning, Buehler gave a costly two-run homerun to Willson Contreras extended the Cubs lead.
"I don't think they were very good as a whole," Mookie Betts said. "We mixed in a couple. As a whole, I don't think we had very good at-bats. You have to tip your cap to the Cubs for pitching a great game."
The Dodgers have a chance to turn it around and start new on Friday evening as they send Tony Gonsolin to the mound against the Cubs Jake Arrieta. For more photos from this game, click on the link below. #ladodgers #chicagocubs #mlb #walkerbeuhler #zackdavies #mlbnohitters #tgsportstv1
