7/21/21 LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Dodgers erased a five-run deficit and capped the night with a walk-off three-run home run by Will Smith to come back and defeat the San Francisco Giants 8-6 on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium.
Josiah Gray made his first Major League pitching debut for the Dodgers, gave up four runs, four hits, and struck out seven batters in four innings.
Chris Taylor and Matt Beaty drew walks before Smith blasted a 0-1 pitch over the left-center field fence. The Dodgers moved within one game of the first-place Giants.
"We have a lot of depth and guys that we can run out there," Smith said. "With the lineup and taking good at-bats, that keeps us in the game, and we can walk away with the win."
Max Muncy got the Dodgers on the board early with an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning.
San Francisco added a run in the top of the third inning on LaMonte Wade Jr.'s solo home run to right field, making the score 3-1.
Thiaro Estrada hit a solo home run, and Mike Yastrzemski hit a two-run home run to give the Giants a 6-1 lead in the top of the fifth inning.
The Dodgers began their comeback in the bottom of the fifth inning, with a solo home run by Taylor to left field, making the score 6-2.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Cody Bellinger drew a walk, and Austin Barnes doubled to deep left field to score Bellinger. Taylor hit his second home run to cut into the Giants' 6-5 lead.
