Tyler Anderson gets run support to help beat the Giants 9-5

8/2/22 SAN FRANCISCO, CA - Tyler Anderson (12-1) pitched 5.0 innings giving up six hits, five runs, and one homerun as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Francisco Giants 9-5.


Alex Wood (7-9) the starting pitcher for the Giants gave up nine hits, six runs, one home run, and had six strikeouts.


Freddie Freeman singled to left field in the top of the first inning to get on first base, but the Giants starting pitcher Alex Wood was able to retire the side.


The Dodgers had runners on first and second base when the Giants committed an error with a pick-off at the second base that went into centerfield, allowing Hansen Alberto to third base.


Gavin Lux hit a single into center field in the top of the second inning, and Hanser Alberto came home to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead.

Wood would load the bases, and moments later, Cody Bellinger hit a sacrifice flyball to centerfield, and Trayce Thompson came home and made the score 2-0.


The Dodgers would lead 3-0 after Mookie Betts singled to right field, and Lux would score, sending Austin Barnes to third base with one out. Trea Turner gave the Dodgers a 4-0 lead with his sacrifice flyball to centerfield.


The Giants trailed the Dodgers 5-0 in the top of the third inning after Lux would be safe on a fielder's choice at first base and Will Smith scored.

Betts would give the Dodgers a 6-0 lead in the top of the sixth inning when he hit a solo home run over the center field.


The Giants were down 6-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning after Luis Gonzalez singled, and moments later, Brandon Belt scored, David Villar doubled, and Wilmar Flores scored.


Anderson would throw a wild pitch that allowed Gonzalez to come home and make the score 6-3. The Giants trail the Dodgers by one run, 6-5, when Joey Bart hit a two-run home run to close the inning.


Anderson walked the first two batters to first and second base in the bottom of the sixth inning with no outs.


The Giants loaded the bases when Joey Bart bunted, and his ball landed in the infield just out of the reach of the Dodgers pitcher Evan Phillips who replaced Tyler Anderson. Phillips held the Giants scoreless after striking out Austin Slater.


Alex Versa would come into the game in the bottom of the seventh inning kept the Giants from scoring.


Lux tripled off of Tyler Rodgers in the top of the eighth inning with two outs. Austin Barnes would hit a double into center field, and Lux came home to give the Dodgers a 7-5 lead.


Cody Bellinger hit a triple into center field, which allowed Barnes to come home to increase the Dodgers' lead to 8-5. Betts would double into left field to knock in Bellinger, and the Dodgers now led 9-5 with two outs.


Chris Martin pitched in the top of the eighth inning, and David Price came in the bottom of the ninth inning to close out the game as the Dodgers improved their record to (70-33) and the Giants fell to (51-53).
