8/25/20 San Francisco Ca - The San Francisco Giants (14-16) hosted the 1st place Los Angeles Dodgers (22-8) at Oracle Park, and beat the Dodgers in a thriller 10-8. Both teams entered the contest with hot-hitting and win streaks (Giants 6, Dodgers 4).

The Dodgers' pitcher Julio Urias (2.74 ERA) was favored to win tonight with Los Angeles averaging more runs per game (5.70) than any other team in the league. The Giants have the league's 3rd best run production at home (6.29) and pitcher Johnny Cueto's (4.35 ERA) funky windup could present a challenge for the Dodgers.

The Dodger Mookie Betts entered the contest batting .300 and a serious threat to steal bases. However, the Giants held Betts in check for the evening (1-6, 2 strikeouts).

After 4 hours and 22 minutes, the Giants proved victorious in the bottom of the 11th inning after a 2-run home run by Donovan Solano. The Giants came back on 4 separate occasions to tie the ballgame. Brandon Belt provided 2 home runs, 1 double and a walk to keep the Giants in the game. After a pitch in the dirt, catcher Joey Bart made an errant throw into left field and the Dodgers took a 7-6 lead. With 2 outs in the bottom of the 10th, Giant Mauricio Dubon got an infield hit to tie the game 7-7.

Giant Evan Longoria tied the game 8-8 with a single that scored Mike Yastrzemski. Donovan Solano walk-off homerun with Longoria on base gave the Giants a 10-8 victory in a thriller over the Dodgers.

Both managers wanted this win badly and went deep into their bullpen. The Giants used 9 pitchers and the Dodgers used 8. The Giants have taken the 1st of the 3 games series over the Dodgers and continue to be the hottest hitting team in the league.

After the game, Giant's Manager Gabe Kapler commended his team for its fortitude and stated that Brandon’s power is coming along, even when he is not hitting home runs.
