The Dodgers are back in first place after beating the Braves 4-3

9/2/21 LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Dodgers (84-49), one game behind the San Francisco Giants, played the Atlanta Braves (70-61), swept the three-game series by winning 4-3 on Wednesday Night.

Max Scherzer (12-4) took the mound for the Dodgers, pitched six innings, gave up three hits, and had nine strikeouts, and Max Fried (11-7) went sixth innings, gave up three hits, two runs, nine strikeouts and two errors for the Braves.

The Dodgers are playing some great baseball right now, and are starting to get everything clicking, especially winning close games down the stretch, are now back on top of the NL West.

"It's a start. We're getting there," said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. "I think that we just got to continue to play good baseball. There's a lot of baseball left, and I just like the way our guys are just so resilient and pick each other up."

Max Muncy continues to swing a hot bat, hit a solo home run over the left-center wall to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.

Austin Barnes gave the Dodgers a 2-0 lead with a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning.

The Braves tied the game 2-2 in the top of the seventh inning after Eddir Rosario hit a two-run home run over the left-field wall.

The Dodgers trail the Braves 3-2 in the top of the eighth inning after Dansby Swanson hit a home run over the center-field wall.

The Braves'' pitcher Tyler Matzek gave up a double to the Dodgers Trea Turner in the bottom of the eighth inning, and Muncy grounded out to advance him to third base.

Still in the bottom of the eighth inning, Justin Turner, with two outs, single into left-field, and Trea Turner tied the game 3-3.

AJ Pollock single to left field, and Justin Turner slid across home plate to give the Dodgers a 4-3 lead.

"I was just trying to see something a little bit up [in the strike zone]," said Pollock. "It wasn't pretty. I just wanted to get the ball through the infield and watch JT fly around the bases like he always does, and it worked out."

Joe Kelly came in the top of the ninth inning pick up his eighth save of the season by getting Travis d'Arnaud, Eddie Rosario, and Adam Duvall to ground out to secure the win for the Dodgers.
