9/24/20 Los Angeles, Ca - The Los Angeles Dodgers clinched the National League West after beating the Oakland A's 7-2 on Tuesday night, losing the Wednesday night matchup 6-4, but looking to take the series tonight against Oakland.
The Dodgers Walker Buehler (1-0) took the mound against the A's Mike Fiers (6-2) in hopes of improving their record to (40-19) heading into the postseason.
The Dodgers' catcher Will Smith knocked in Mookie Betts in the bottom of the first inning to give them a 1-0 lead. Corey Seagers continues his slugfest, smashed a solo home run over the left-field wall to give the Dodgers a 2-0 lead.
Kiki Hernandez had a single that scored Will Smith in the bottom of the sixth inning to increase the Dodgers' lead to 3-0. The A's Jesus Luzardo walked Chris Taylor, and Cody Bellinger scored from third-base pushing the Dodgers lead up to 4-0. Seager hit a sacrifice fly ball that allowed AJ Pollick to score as the Dodgers now led 5-0.
Sean Murphy finally got the A's on the scoreboard in the top of the eighth inning, with a solo home run, now trail the Dodgers 5-1, and Jansen Kenley came in and held Oakland scoreless to secure their 40th win of the season.
