9/26/20 LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of the most complete teams in baseball, especially in the short 60-game season. The Dodgers managed to polish off their Freeway Series rival, the Los Angeles Angels 7-6 on Saturday night.
Before a 20-minute power outage disrupted play in the seventh inning, the Dodgers made sure they got on the board early with a 3-0 lead, thanks to the bases-loaded, and Cody Bellinger walked that scored Mookie Betts. Will Smith hit an RBI single, and Joc Pederson grounded into a fielder's choice that scored Max Muncy.
Angels starter Julio Teheran threw over 50 pitches to the first nine batters of the Dodgers lineup. The Angel bats warmed up in the third inning when Jahmai Jones connected on an RBI single that scored rookie Jo Adell. Jared Walsh later tripled to left field that scored Jones and Elliott Soto that tied the game 3-3.
Albert Pujols hit a sacrifice fly that scored Walsh and gave the Angels the 4-3 lead. Outstanding offensive production in the inning by the Angels, who were without Mike Trout and Justin Upton in the lineup.
Peterson sent a two-run shot to left field that gave the Dodgers the 5-4 lead, and right after that, the power went out at Dodger Stadium.
After about a 25 minute delay, the game resumed, and so did the Dodgers offense as Edwin Rios and Smith connected on solo home runs that ended any opportunity for the Angels to regain the lead in the game.
The Dodger will look to complete the sweep of the Freeway Series on Sunday and will wait later for their opponent in the upcoming Wild Card Series to be announced.
