LOS ANGELES, CA - The Blue Jays' rookie starting pitcher, Trey Yesavage (W, 3-1), gave up only 4 hits, 1 to Will Smith, 2 to Teoscar Hernandez, and 1 to Enrique Hernandez (home run), after pitching 7.0 innings and 12 strikeouts to help beat the Dodgers in Game 5 of the World Series 6-1.
However, Blake Snell (L,3-2), the starting pitcher for the Dodgers, had a rough night, pitching 6.2 innings while giving up 6 hits, five runs, two back-to-back home runs in his career to start a game, and seven strikeouts.
"They didn’t really get to me,” Snell said. “First pitch of the game, fastball up and in. It’s 98 and up. Unlucky. And then Vlad, that’s just a bad pitch … After that, pretty smooth sailing.”

With men in scoring positions the last two games, the big bats for Los Angeles, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Teoscar Hernandez, Shohei Ohtani, and Max Muncy are not delivering, and are one game away from being eliminated in the World Series.
“It doesn't feel great,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. “You clearly see those guys finding ways to get hits, move the baseball forward, and we're not doing a good job of it.”
To start the top of the first inning, the Dodgers were stunned when the Blue Jays led 2-0 after the first pitch by Snell to Davis Schneider and Vladimir Guerrero Jr, both hit back-to-back solo home runs over the left field wall.
This was the second time in postseason play since 2002 (Oakland A’s) back-to-back home runs in the ALDS. The Dodgers would trail 2-1 in the bottom of the third inning after Enrique Hernandez’s solo home run over the left field wall.

Toronto would add another run to their total and led 3-1 at the top of the fourth inning when Ernie Clement hit a sacrifice fly ball to center field and Daulton Varsho scored.
The Blue Jays would go up 5-1 in the top of the seventh inning after a wild pitch by the Dodgers' relief pitcher Edgardo Henriquez, and Addison Barger scores, and Bo Bichette's line drive single into right field, and Andres Gimenez scores.
Isiah Kiner-Falefa, at the top of the eighth inning, would smash a single to left field to score the final run of the game, 6-1, as Toronto, with some dominant pitching and hitting, 9 hits, is heading back home with a 3-2 lead in the World Series.
