The Dodgers close out the regular season losing to the Padres 4-2

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Dodgers' Tyler Glasnow (RHP, 5-2) pitched 6.1 innings, allowing 3 hits and 3 runs on 11 strikeouts, and lost to the San Diego Padres 4-2 to close out the regular season at Dodger Stadium.
The Dodgers, at 97-62, will be the #2 seed in the National League and will get a bye in the first round of the MLB playoffs, which will allow some players the much-needed rest and time to recoup from some injuries.
“I think we all know why it’s important,” first baseman Freddie Freeman said of the break. “There’s a lot of us kind of limping toward the end here, a lot of aches and pains this year.”
The Dodgers had plenty of scoring chances. In the bottom of the fifth with men on first and third and with 2 outs, Teoscar Hernandez struck out, but the starting pitcher Nick Pivetta (RHP, 4-2) for the Padres pitched 4.1 scoreless innings, allowing 4 hits and seven strikeouts.
In the top of the sixth, the Padres led 1-0 when Dustin Harris hit a sacrifice fly to center field, and Ethan Salas scored.
San Diego would score three more times in the top of the seventh when Austin Hays hit a single to Mookie Betts, which was deflected by third baseman Max Muncy; Jackson Merrill scored, 2-0; Ethan Salas hit a line drive to center field; Xander Bogaerts scored, 3-0; and Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a single to right field, and Sung-Mun Song scored, 4-0.
Los Angeles would trail 4-1 in the bottom of the eighth with Betts on third base and Miguel Rojas at home plate; pitcher Adrian Morejon balked, allowing Betts to score.
The Dodgers would score their final run of the regular season after Tommy Edman struck out but was able to get to first base on a wild pitch by Mason Miller. On the next play, Shohei Ohtani would hit a double into center field, and Edman would come home to make the final score 4-2.
